
Andrea “Anne” Houghton, 78, of Plymouth, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on December 21, 1946, in Plymouth, Indiana to Harry and Mary (Nelson) Girten. She graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1964. Anne married David Houghton on February 17, 2012, in Plymouth.
Anne was a dedicated florist working for Felke’s for 30 years before retiring in 2012. Outgoing and fun are just a couple of words that describe her personality. Her family was important to her. She was known as the family caregiver, she was always involved in the lives and special moments of her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was endearingly coined the phrase, “the hostess with the mostess,” from her family.
Anne was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Phi Delta Kappa Sorority. She enjoyed playing Canasta and belonged to the Canasta Players Club for 50 years. Anne also loved to bowl, cook, sing and read.
She is survived by her husband David of Plymouth; her children: Ronna Sissel, Gina (James) Young, Matt (Danielle) Gantz of Plymouth; grandchildren: Morgan (Aaron) Sissel-Landrey, Jake (Mackenzie) Young, Andy Young, Tynley Gantz, McKoy Gantz; brothers: Larry (Amme) Girten, Bill (Donna) Girten, Patricia Girten of Plymouth; and Bob Girten of Indianapolis.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Lynn (Steve) Jacox, Dee (Jim) Brown, Janie Girten and son-in-law Ron Sissel.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 2-4 pm at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will immediately follow with Life Celebrant James Smart officiating.
Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.
