Anna-Sophia Joy Petz, 13, of Argos affectionately known as Sophie, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, April 1, 2024.
Born on June 10, 2010 in Plymouth, Indiana, she was the daughter of Andy and Amy (Hartley) Petz. She attended Argos Community Schools.
Sophie's personality was a beautiful blend of spunk, determination, and compassion. She possessed an unwavering spirit, always knowing what she wanted and fearlessly pursuing her passions including volleyball, soccer, colorguard, and musicals. Her love for her chicken hat and Warmies were undeniable. Sophie's infectious laughter and mischievous sense of humor endeared her to all who knew her. Despite her own battle with DIPG brain cancer, Sophie remained remarkably strong, a testament to her resilience and determination.
She was a beacon of strength and positivity with her unwavering faith in Jesus and her profound belief in the goodness of God which served as an inspiration to all who knew her. Sophie was a cherished member of Crossroads Church. Sophie leaves behind a legacy of love and fun that will forever echo in the hearts of those she touched.
She is survived by her loving parents, Andy and Amy Petz, her siblings Ariana, Lillian, Ethan, Ioan, and Katie, as well as her grandparents, Michael & Amy Petz, Jeff & Janice Hartley, and her great-grandparents, Don and Donna Carpenter, Russ and Joyce Hartley. Sophie is preceded in death by her great-grandparents George & Myrtle Petz, and Arleigh and Eunice Robinson.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm at Crossroads Church, followed by a memorial service at 3:30 pm, with Pastor Jason Stiger officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Cure Starts Now, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for pediatric brain cancer, a cause close to Sophie's heart.
