Carolyn J. Maxson, 78, of Plymouth

Carolyn J. Maxson, 78, of Plymouth, IN, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024 in Warsaw Meadows Care Center, of Warsaw, IN.

Carolyn was born to Lowell and Maxine (Beldon) Maxson on May 18, 1945 in Plymouth, IN. She was married to Charles “Mikey” High on September 5, 1999, until his passing on May 8, 2011. She worked as an environmental services director at Pilgrim Manor, and in Behavioral Health Services until her retirement from Michiana Behavioral Center of Plymouth, IN.

She enjoyed gardening, her cat companions, wildlife, feeding birds, raccoons, and deer, attending all of her grandchildren’s events, and most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren. Her family was the most important to her and made her so proud. She always looked forward to family cookouts, gatherings, birthday parties, holidays, and any event where she could eat food and especially cake. Christmas was her favorite holiday as she would anticipate her tradition of baking cookies months in advance. She had a passion for baking and was famously known for her Christmas cookies. She would bake dozens upon dozens of different varieties of Christmas cookies and would spend countless hours pouring her love into making each one of them to perfection; so many labor-intensive cookies that she recruited the help of her children and grandchildren over the years. Family and friends would eagerly await to fill their cookie trays full of her special Christmas cookies.

Carolyn is survived by her daughters: Gail (John) Thompson of Plymouth, IN; Sandra Busam (Sheila Mann) of Knox, IN; her sons: Daniel Carroll of Plymouth, IN; David (Esmeralda) Carroll of Plymouth, IN; her grandchildren: Alston (Stephanie) Listenberger of Indianapolis, IN; Kennedy Thompson of Columbus, IN; Kade Busam of Plymouth, IN; Joshua Carroll of Plymouth, IN; Samuel Carroll of Plymouth, IN; Alayna Carroll of Plymouth, IN; Trinity Eby of Plymouth, IN; her great-grandchildren: Cerys Listenberger of Indianapolis, IN; Emma Listenberger of Indianapolis, IN; Rian Whipker of Columbus, IN; Ronan Whipker of Columbus, IN; her sister, Linda (Bruce) Lacher of South Bend, IN; her brothers: Doug VanSkyock of Bourbon, IN; James Maxson of Elkhart, IN; and Troy Baughman of Plymouth, IN.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell Maxson and Maxine Beldon Baughman, and her husband, Charles “Mikey” High.
