Carolyn Joyce Staley McAfee, 84, of Plymouth

Carolyn Joyce Staley McAfee, 84, of Plymouth, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024 in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Carolyn was born on August 1, 1940 to Harold Arthur Staley and Edith Margaret Cowen Staley in Plymouth, IN. She attended Inwood Grade School through sixth grade and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1958. Carolyn married Donald Lee McAfee on August 31, 1958. Their children are Lee (Renee) McAfee and Lynn Wilcox. Their grandchildren are Jennifer McAfee, Mallory McAfee, and Ethan (Gillian) Wilcox, along with two great grandsons, Oliver and Elliott.

Don preceded her in death on January 9, 2005. On September 3, 2006, she married Robert Gene Davenport. Robert then preceded her in death on December 17, 2009. Carolyn married Donald Ray Davenport on December 25, 2011.

Carolyn worked part time as a meter reader for Marshall County R.E.M.C. and as a merchandiser for the American Greeting Card Company, but her life revolved around her family, and loving and caring for them. Her grandchildren and great-grandsons were her pride and joy. She enjoyed spending time with them and had so much fun with them. Her friends were also very special to her. She was known to always have a lovely smile on her face. Carolyn was a lifelong member of the Inwood United Methodist Church and an active member of the United Methodist Women’s Unit.

 

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Van Gilder Funeral Home (300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN 46563).

A private family graveside will take place in New Oak Hill Cemetery.
