Celestino R. Lopez, 91, peacefully passed away on June 28, 2023 at Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester. On August 15, 1931, he was born to Antonio and Dolores (Ramirez) Lopez in Mission, TX.
After his honorable discharge for the U.S. Army after serving in the Korean War, Cele married the love of his life, Sara Villegas, on May 6, 1954. They would go on to have 7 beautiful children.
Cele worked as a Bearing Inspector & Machine Operator for Centerless Grinding at Universal Bearing in Bremen. He also served as the Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #250. Celestino was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church serving as a Eucharist Minister and Acolyte. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Cele was beloved as the Hero of the Family. After his retirement from Universal Bearing, he spent his days keeping up with Sara.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Sara V. Lopez and is lovingly remembered by his children: Celestino (Linda) Lopez Jr.; Gerardo (Jennifer) Lopez; Sara Lopez, Alma Salgado; Gabriel (Maria) Lopez; Christobal (Karen Sue) Lopez; Lourdes (Adam) Lemler; and honorary son, David Fear, along with 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Cele is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Maria Dolores, and siblings, Santiago, Guadalupe, Virginia, Roberto, Maria and Carlos.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 4-7 pm at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. A bilingual rosary will be recited at 7 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 613 N. Center St., Plymouth, with Fr. Fernando and Fr. Keeton officiating.
Interment will take place in the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Plymouth.
