
Charles LeRoy Kuchel, 82, of Plymouth, died at his home suddenly on February 9, 2025 after a brief battle with cancer and a recent Illness.
Charlie was born to Joseph Kuchel and Bertha Bernice Whitesell on September 25, 1942 in Knox, IN.
He grew up on a small dairy farm and attended school in Tippecanoe, Indiana. He served in the United States Army in 1961. He worked at various places throughout his years including McCord's of Plymouth, IN and Reynolds Metals in Bourbon, IN as a machine operator. He loved Harley Davidsons and raced cars for a few years at Plymouth Speedway, and at New Paris. His other hobbies included coon hunting, fishing on the river, and horseshoes. He was great at gardening and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He loved watching sports, particularly football and recently followed the Buffalo Bills.
Preceding Charlie in death are his parents, Joseph Kuchel and Bertha Bernice Whitesell, his brother, Frank E. Kuchel, and his oldest son, Perry Lee Kuchel.
He is survived by his two twin sisters, JoAnne Hanthorn of Warsaw, IN; and Bonnie Hathaway from Plymouth, IN. Also surviving is his daughter; and his son, Charlie Kuchel of Wisconsin; nephews: Joe Dixon; Doug Dixon; and Todd Kuchel of Plymouth and Argos, IN; his nieces: Gail Lynn Henry- Helsel; and Angie Kuchel; and many other loving great-nieces, great-nephews; along with lifetime friends, Buck and Tracey Coleman.
A memorial visitation for immediate family and close friends will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Van Gilder Funeral Home (300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN 46563).
