Clara Irene “Sue” Sterling, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 19, 2024, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth. Born on November 29, 1931, in Chicago, IL she was the daughter of Bruno and Clara D. (Stachowski) Stiles.
A tremendously strong woman that did everything within her power to provide for her 5 children. She worked for the South Bend Tribune, Rochester Sentinel, Strauss Pies, Hart Schaffner and Marx Clothing and Little Caesars Pizza.
Sue also had a wonderful sense of humor, but she was also known for her candidness. She will fondly be remembered for her tenacity and the way that she treated so many people.
She is survived by her children: Sharon (Robert) Bean of Osceola; Sandra Zapper of Cape Coral, FL; Sheila (Grant) Ellabarger of Plymouth; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, sister-in-law Joyce Stachowski of North Carolina.
Clara is preceded in death by her parents, her children Susan Pfledderer, Rhonwyn Sterling and brother Jim Stachowski.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, from 11-12 pm. A prayer service will immediately follow with Fr. Stephen Felicichia officiating.
