Donel “Don” D. Hathaway, 87, of Plymouth

Donel “Don” D. Hathaway, 87, of Plymouth, IN, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 2:25 p.m. in Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home of Plymouth.

Don was born on March 9, 1937 to Dwight and Martha (Keiser) Hathaway in South Whitley, IN. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1956 during the time of the Korean War. He married Bonnie Kuchel on February 1, 1969. He was raised as a Baptist. He worked for 24 years at U.S. Granules of Plymouth in the maintenance department. He was a former member of the Eagles Lodge of Culver. In his spare time, he enjoyed operating his HAM radio, meeting all his radio friends for breakfast, and most importantly, spending time with his family.

Don will be dearly missed by his wife, Bonnie Hathaway of Plymouth; his daughter, Angie (James) Shively of Mishawaka; his sons: Todd (Charlotte) Kuchel of Argos; and Dennis (Karen) Hathaway of Dallas, TX; his grandchildren: Heather (Nick) Enyeart; Jennifer (Nathan) Eaton; Blaque Kuchel; Bryant (Stephanie) Kuchel; Bailey Kuchel; Bruce Fosler; Laura (Tyler) Speirs; Collin Keefer and Mackenzie Keefer; and his great-grandchildren: Eli Hopkins; Remington Enyeart; Brenna Kuchel; Kylie Kuchel; Cooper Kuchel; Laylah Abair; Weston Speirs; and Milo Blu Campbell.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Martha Hathaway, and his sister, Mary Katherine Miller.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Van Gilder Funeral Home (300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN 46563).

A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kristin Harp officiating.

The burial will take place in New Oak Hill Cemetery (1300 Chester St., Plymouth, IN 46563).
