Doris I. Yockey, 93, of Plymouth

Doris I. Yockey, 93, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025. Born on November 21, 1931, in Berrien Springs, Michigan to the late William and Hazel (Blanchard) Hibnar.

Doris moved to Plymouth as a young girl where she met and married her husband of 73 years, Nelson Yockey. She worked at Bottorff Chiropractic for many years here in Plymouth. Doris and her husband were rarely apart since the day they were married, April 14, 1951. Nelson preceded her in death by only 25 days, so they are now reunited forever in heaven. They loved traveling to Hawaii, the Holy Lands, New Mexico and to see their sons and cherished grandchildren in theatre performances.

Doris was a life-long member of the Church of God in Michigan and Indiana. She attended camp meetings as a young girl and had her first date with Nelson at a camp meeting. Their faith in God was unwavering as was their dedication to their church family at the Church of God, Lapaz, Indiana. Doris joyfully volunteered to clean, prepare meals and organize functions for the church and its members. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and as a servant to the Lord who lived a selfless life.

Family was everything to Doris and she was happiest spending time with her children, grandchildren and four sisters. She has many surviving nieces who will always carry her memory in their hearts and who cherished every minute they shared with her.

She is survived by son Douglas Yockey of Plymouth; son Denton (Gina) Yockey of Alexandria, Kentucky; grandson Grayson Yockey of Atlanta, GA; and Gwyneth Yockey of New York, NY.

Doris is preceded in death by daughter, Denise Leann Yockey, sisters Helen Watters and Wilda Cruse of Plymouth, Lorna Hazard of Cassopolis, MI; Arlene Bowden of Clovis, NM; brothers Garold Hibnar of South Bend and Harold Hibnar of Mishawaka.
