Glenna D. Borggren, 96, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 3, 1928 in Plymouth to George Dewey and Bertha (Singleton) Shafer.
Glenna was a graduate of Plymouth High School in the Class of 1946. She was united in marriage with Raymond Borggren on June 14, 1952. They would celebrate 58 years of marriage before Ray preceded her in death on November 3, 2010.
Glenna was a faithful member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Donaldson. Throughout the years, she was an active member in several groups at the church including Friendship Class and Covenant Women.
Holding a career with the City of Plymouth as a Clerk, Glenna dedicated 22 years before retiring in 1992. In her free time, Glenna was a longtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member of the Home Extension Club and volunteered with the Heart Association. She was also a dedicated precinct committee person during elections.
Glenna was an avid member of 5 different card clubs over the years; she enjoyed games such as Rummikub, Euchre, Canasta, and Pinochle. She also enjoyed playing board games and especially Scrabble. One of the memories that will be missed by her family is playing Words with Friends.
Those who knew Glenna knew that her family was what meant the most to her. She was a loving mother and a doting grandmother. Those who loved her will miss her strong-willed personality. She was always thoughtful and considerate in her actions and looked out for the best interest of others.
Glenna is survived by her children, Marsha (Late Husband - Jeff) Welborn, Terry (Tammy) Borggren, and Kent (Sherri) Borggren; grandchildren, Gregory (Erin) Welborn, Shannon (Josh) Olney, Jeremy (Morgan) Borggren, Erica (Josh) Turner, Tylor (Brianne) Borggren, Heather Borggren, and Tina (Josh) Widmeyer; and great-grandchildren, Paisley, Marty, Hadley, Genevieve, Elijah, Ellie, Leo, Vivian, Augustus, Jackson, Isabella, Hazel, and Milo.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray; parents, George and Bertha; and sister, Frances Shafer.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 11AM to 1PM at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1PM with Rev. Robin Swieringa officiating.
