Guadalupe H. Salazar, 87, of Plymouth

Guadalupe H. Salazar, age 87, of Plymouth, IN, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in Brickyard Health Care Center of Valparaiso, IN, surrounded by family.

Guadalupe was born in Donna, TX. on August 16, 1936 to Chon Concepción Hernandez and Maria Perez. She graduated from Edinburg High School in Edinburg, TX and then the University of Texas-Pan American, Edinburg, TX and Michiana College of Commerce, South Bend, IN, with associate degrees in business and accounting respectively. She worked at Orthopedic Equipment Company formerly of Bourbon, IN and as a dietician for nursing homes. She married Ramon Salazar on May 26, 1956. at her parent’s ranch in LaVilla, TX.  She is survived by her children: Ramon (JoEllen) Salazar, III of Bourbon, IN; Maria Salazar King of San Antonio, TX; Ross (Ria) Salazar of Bourbon, IN; and LuAnn (Kenneth) Houston of Seymour, IN; her 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lydia (Daniel) Savedra of McAllen, TX.

Guadalupe was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon Salazar; her infant daughter, Maria Cristela; her parents; and siblings Lydia, Olivia, Alejandro, Oralia, and Daniel.

She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Plymouth, IN. She was an avid reader, especially of her Bible. She was a devoted and faithful servant of God and a wonderful loving mother. She enjoyed a rich life full of things she loved including playful times with her husband and children whom she cherished. She also enjoyed cooking delicious dishes for family and friends, crocheting, gardening, games, flea markets, antiques, and her beloved pets.  

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, December 9, 2023. at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses (9019 Suter Road, Plymouth, IN 46563) with the service via Zoom as well.
