Ida May Miller, 85, of Plymouth

Ida May Miller, 85, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth. She was born on April 19, 1939 in Starke County, IN to Caklista Scott.

Ida was united in marriage with Earl Miller on January 1, 1981 at Plymouth Wesleyan Church. They celebrated 35 years together before he preceded her in death on July 19, 2016. Earl and Ida would go on to travel most of the United States in their RV; spending time camping and enjoying their retirement together. Even after Earl passed away, Ida continued to travel with Wayne and Cindy. She especially loved anywhere she could spend time at the ocean. While Golden Corral may have been her favorite restaurant, she was an expert at getting the perfect piece of crab out of the shell, so she had to have crab legs wherever they were served in their travels.

On Saturdays during football season, you could often hear Ida from several rooms away cheering on Notre Dame with her roommate, Jackey. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting and sewing. Her family fondly remembers her for the beautiful seamstress that she was; making clothes, curtains, and quilts with ease. She also loved to go shopping and browse at the various stores. When she wasn’t shopping or sewing, Ida was an incredible baker; making her son’s wedding cake and being chosen as the family baker when a birthday or special occasion came around.

Ida was known for her steadfast beliefs and strong-willed personality. She knew what she wanted and how to make it happen. These traits helped to guide her when raising their children and making cherished memories.

Ida is survived by her children, Wayne (Cindy) Capron and their children, Cathy (Gary), Scott, and Andrew (Jaime) along with great-grandchildren Macy, JP, Allie, and Lily; Barbara (Lynn) Capron and their daughter, Pat; Sadie (Steve) Miller and their children, Kacey, Shawn, and Michael along with 5 great-grandchildren, and Sharon Miller Nicolette and her son, Jason along with 3 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Carol Anderson and Mary Luse.

She is also missed by her close friends, Mary and Linda; along with her best friend, Jackey.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl; mother, Caklista; infant son, Harvey Miller; son, Rodger (Patty) Miller, their son, William, survives along with 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; granddaughter, Tracy Anderson; brothers, Harvey (Nancy) Garbison and Jimmie Anderson; Earl’s parents, Harvey and Nellie Miller and his siblings, Barb Miller, Earl Eugene Miller, Mildred Egelski, Evelyn Pearl Funk. Frances Clevenger, Lloyd Don Miller, Fred Miller, Malcolm Miller, Lewis Dean Miller and Everett Richard Miller.

She will be laid to rest with Earl in the Columbarium at Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
