James Harold Duff (Jim) passed away at home, surrounded by family and friends on June 20, 2024. Jim was born on May 26th, 1942, in Plymouth, IN to George and Ada (Thompson) Duff.
Jim graduated from Argos High School in 1960 and then went on to serve in the US Army from June 30th, 1960 to June 29th, 1962. Jim was stationed at Arlington Cemetery and was a member of the firing party in “The Old Guard”, proudly participating in many ceremonies, including President Kennedy’s Inaugural Parade. Jim served an additional 4 years in the Army Reserve.
Being raised on a farm, Jim had the passion and work ethic to not only farm but to eventually run his own business, Kropp Fire Protection, and raise a family. Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Canoeing many of Indiana’s rivers and lakes was a special passion for Jim. His love for nature was imbued into his three boys.
Jim married Glenda Cripe on February 7th, 1965, in Ligonier, Indiana. Glenda survives along with three sons, Thomas (Tracey) Duff, Eric (Kamela) Duff, and Robert (Tracie) Duff. Also surviving are a sister, Janis Houin and a brother, Gary Duff. There are 6 Grandchildren: Tyler (Jessica) Duff, Trevor (Kathy) Duff, Kristen (Lindon) McDonald, Cory (Kayla) Duff, Ethan Duff and Jenna (Sam) Sharp. There are 7 Great Grandchildren: Jaxon, Jenna, Wyatt, Madeline, Aniya, Rilyn, Zeliya.
Preceding Jim in death are his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Alph and Roberta Cripe; his Sister-in-law, Linda Duff; Niece, Amy Duff-Custer; Brother-in-law William Guyas; and nephew Kevin Guyas.
Jim and Glenda were active members of Blissville Community Church, attending faithfully for 44 years. While wintering in Florida they attended Peace River Baptist church.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 4-7PM at the Blissville Community Church, 6250 Spruce Trail, Plymouth, IN 46563. Visitation will resume at 10AM on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 with funeral services immediately following at 11AM with Pastor Shellie Jankowski officiating.
Burial will take place at Morris Cemetery, Plymouth with Pastor Brandon Schadek officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Army and the Plymouth American Legion.
