Born on November 14, 1942, in Sturgis, MI to Niley and Vada Wisler, Janice dedicated her life to making a difference through education. She resided in Plymouth, where she left an indelible mark on countless students and faculty members over her remarkable 43-year tenure at the Plymouth Community School Corporation.

Janice's educational journey began at an early age, attending first grade at a time when kindergarten was not yet available. She completed her high school education by the age of 17 and pursued her passion for teaching at Manchester College, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Beyond her professional life, Janice was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church, where she shared her love for music in the church choir and playing the piano for over 50 years. She also served the Plymouth community as president of the Plymouth Education Association and was a lifetime member of the Indiana Education Association and National Education Association.

Janice was married to her beloved husband, Richard Allen Shockney, on December 27, 1964. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Bret and Heather, both of whom have continued Janice's legacy of leadership and service. Janice took immense pride in her grandchildren, Ella, Finnegan and McKinley, cherishing every moment spent with them.
