Linda Jo Walsh, 70, of Plymouth

PLYMOUTH – Linda Jo Walsh, lovingly remembered as “La La Linda” or “Linda Lou”, passed away peacefully in her home on February 11, 2025 at the age of 70. The daughter of Paul and Joan (Nafe) Hill, she was born in South Bend on September 29, 1954 at Memorial Hospital.

She dedicated herself to the nursing profession, graduating from Ivy Tech's Nursing School in 1994. Throughout her remarkable career as a long-term care nurse, Linda served with unwavering compassion at Pilgrim Manor, Miller’s Merry Manor, Catherine Kasper in Plymouth, Cardinal Services in South Bend, and the Life Care Center of Rochester. Her kindness and gentle spirit made her a beloved figure among her patients, and she brought joy to their lives by transforming the halls of the nursing home with seasonal decorations. In addition to being a dedicated nurse, Linda was also a member of the Sherrif’s Posse.

But Linda’s legacy extended far beyond her professional life; it blossomed most vibrantly in her own home, especially in her cherished kitchen. It was there that she created not just delicious dishes—like her famous Cottage Cheese Rolls and scrumptious pies—but also treasured family memories. Christmas was a particularly special season for her, one she wished would never end. As the ultimate cheer meister, she eagerly decked the halls, ensuring that the spirit of the holidays enveloped her family with warmth and joy.

Family was the heart and soul of Linda’s life. She celebrated every moment with those she loved, attending family events and supporting her children and grandchildren in their activities. In her free moments, Linda found peace in her beloved garden, tending to her famous "Pot Garden," filled with thriving tomatoes and cucumbers that she loved to share. She delighted in connecting with her family through sharing TikTok videos and enjoyed shopping, often receiving packages from TEMU.

Linda leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and care that will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew her. Her nurturing soul and zest for life will be deeply missed.

Linda will be dearly missed by her children, Karen Matovich, Kathy (Billy) Schoff, James “JT” (Samantha) Sapp, and David (Julia) Walsh; step-children, John Sapp and Gina Courtois; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sue Sliter, Patty (Jeff) Moss, Jim Hill, Tom (Robin) Hill, and John Hill; and best friend, Amber (Tony) Bragg.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Joan; daughter, Martina Sapp; son-in-law, Drake Matovich; and brother-in-law Oran Sliter.

Visitation will be held from 11AM-1PM on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral Services will be held immediately following at 1PM with Pastor Chris Miller officiating.

Burial will take place at Oakhill Cemetery in Plymouth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made towards Linda’s funeral expenses to Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank Linda's best friend, Amber, and the nursing staff with Traditions Hospice, Laurie and Ashley, for their care and compassion.
