South Bend - Margaret Ann Suter, 83 years young, was born on October 28, 1941 and passed from this life onto the next on February 6, 2025. She was a resident at Southfield assisted living facility in South Bend, IN. She was born in Calumet City, IL to Harvey and Daisy Goff and attended AJ Kentland High School. Upon graduation, she worked as a switchboard operator for United Telephone (Sprint) from 1966 until her retirement in 1998. On May 25, 1979 she married the love of her life Arthur Suter who partnered with her in both life and parenting. They built their life together in Plymouth, IN. They enjoyed a beautiful 32 years.
Marge is survived by her two loving sons Joseph (Sandy) Hopkins and John Hewitt, Jennifer Hewitt (daughter-in-law). 5 grandchildren: Jeanann (Derek) Dean, Audra Hewitt, Christian (Loretta) Elmerick, Courtney (Keenan) Lane, and Erin (Joshua) Simpson. 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son James Lipa, her daughter-in-law Lyn Lipa, and husband Arthur Suter. Her parents, her brothers Bob Goff, Joe Goff, Bill Goff and sister Barbara Jean Detrich. Her extended family, Aunt Bernice & Uncle Eddie Rybarski, Karen Welch, Merle Welch, Charlie Suter, Ralph & Erma Suter.
Despite many challenges, Marge lived her life to the fullest, and loved hard. Though at times some found her stubborn, she was a true example of what a life of persistence and determination can look like. She’ll be remembered for her laughter and how she would cover her mouth to prevent herself from laughing “just a little too loud.” Her love of the Gaithers and staying at the Brown County Inn will continue to remain in the hearts of her family.
Funeral services are scheduled for February 13,2025 with visitation from 10-12 followed by a funeral at noon with Pastor Josh Simpson presiding at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Marge’s final resting place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family would like to invite everyone to join them for a meal at Plymouth Wesleyan Church immediately following her internment.
