Margaret Bridget Kenny, 70, of Plymouth

Margaret Bridget Kenny, 70, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the Center for Hospice Care‑Raclin in Mishawaka after a courageous, valiant battle with pancreatic cancer, facing each day with unwavering strength, grace, and hope.

Margaret was born August 28, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, the beloved daughter of Thomas Joseph and Matilda (Cooney) Connelly. She graduated from Oak Lawn High School in 1972 and earned her degree in nursing from Moraine Valley Community College. With compassion and dedication, she became one of the youngest registered nurses in Illinois. She then began her career at Little Company of Mary Hospital—where her caring spirit and commitment to patients was undeniable from day one.

Margaret and Jim met as teenagers while working together at High Low grocery store — he as a stocker and she as a cashier — and quickly became inseparable. They married on November 14, 1975, in Oak Lawn, Illinois, and Margaret went on to devote nearly 50 years to nursing — first in Lincoln, Illinois, and then at Parkview Hospital in Plymouth (now St. Joseph Medical Center, Plymouth), where her compassion and dedication left a lasting impact on countless patients and colleagues. From intensive care and OB/GYN to pre‑testing surgical nursing, she combined meticulous attention to detail with a boundless compassion that made her an outstanding caregiver. Known for fiercely advocating for her patients and always putting their needs before her own, Margaret’s nurturing spirit touched countless lives and set a standard of kindness and dedication that will never be forgotten.

Margaret’s greatest joy was her family — her boundless love and gentle encouragement created a nurturing home where her children thrived. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she celebrated every milestone with warm hugs and thoughtful kindness. Her selfless spirit and unwavering support will be cherished always.

She delighted in crocheting cozy blankets and crafting intricate cross‑stitch pieces, and in the kitchen she lovingly baked Irish soda bread, rich homemade fudge, and her famous mint cookies to share with family and friends.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Plymouth.

She is survived by her husband Jim of Plymouth; daughter Elizabeth (Eric) Souders of Parker, Colorado; son Kevin (Sarah) Kenny of Fishers, IN; grandchildren: Ilya, Alex, Mallory, Libby and Nolan; sister Mary Ann (Tom) Burns of Greatlenn Falls, VA; sister-in-law Janet Connelly of Chicago, Illinois.
