Marvin D. Hardy, 69, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on May 8, 1955, in Plymouth, Indiana, he was the son of James and Esther (Poulos) Hardy.
He attended LaVille High School, graduating with the class of 1973. Marvin met Jodelle cruising down Michigan Street one Friday night, and they were married on December 7, 1974, at the Plymouth Church of the Brethren.
Marvin was a fantastic mechanic that retired from Transit Mix in 2018. A very outgoing, outspoken man that did not know a stranger. Marvin seemed to know everyone, which made it a little hard for his kids to hide anything from him. He was a man of respect that lived his life by always wanting to do the right thing. Someone who would notoriously show up to work early and was someone that proved his talents to many.
Marvin enjoyed his 55 Chevy step-side pick-up truck, his motorcycles, playing his drum set and enjoyed watching and coaching softball. Family was everything to him, especially when it came to the holidays. Thanksgiving and Christmas will not be the same without this wonderful man.
He is survived by his wife Jodelle of Plymouth; children: Stephanie (Erica) Hardy-Pike of Anniston, AL; Derek Hardy of Texas; Gabrielle (Joe) Vires of LaPaz; 10-grandchildren plus bonus grands; brother Ron (Laurie) Hardy of Plymouth; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, brother Steven, sister Yvonne Rinfield and his black lab Lucy.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 11-1 pm at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will immediately follow with Chaplain Rod Holmes officiating.
Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
