Mary Ann Miller, 84, of Plymouth

Mary Ann Miller, 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 1, 2023 at Warsaw Meadows Nursing Home. She was born in Elkhart on January 8, 1939 to Robert E. Sanders and D. Pauline Bordner. When she was 8 years old, her father was taken from her in an accident and she was blessed with a stepfather, Russell E. Peffley, who lovingly raised her.

Her family moved to Cook Lake in Plymouth in 1951 and Mary Ann graduated from West High School in 1957. She then attended Ball State Teachers College. Mary Ann married her beloved Marvin on June 21, 1959 in Lapaz. They moved across the lake to Holm Lake in Plymouth, where they would reside for 53 years. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2011.

She spent 18 years working at St. Michael Catholic School as a teacher and as a secretary at St. Michael Catholic Church, retiring in 1999. Mary Ann served as the Marshall County Clerk from 1996 – 2000. She was also a lifelong member of the Church of the Brethren.

Mary Ann loved traveling, especially spending winters in Florida. She enjoyed social events and getting lunch with her friends. Mary Ann loved spoiling her grandchildren and her Bassett Hound, Cassie. In her free time, she enjoyed cross-stitching and attending plays.

Mary Ann is survived by her children, Christine L. Miller of Plymouth and Jeffrey K. (Tracy) Miller of Deland, FL; sister, Sally L. Smith of Poteet, TX; step-sister, Barbara J. (Dwayne) Zeider of Elkhart; and grandchildren, Timothy C. (Jennifer) Miller of Haines City, FL and Matthew N. Miller of Kentucky; and three great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin and parents, Robert and Pauline; step-father, Russell E. Peffley.; and step-brother, Dennis M. Peffley of Fairbanks, AK.

Visitation will be held at the Church of the Brethren, 1130 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563 on Saturday, June 24th from 11AM – 1PM. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 1PM with Pastor Deb Cook officiating.
