Mary Virginia Stump, 82, of Plymouth passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
Born on February 3, 1942 in Plymouth, IN she was the daughter of Crayton and Virginia (Vance) Holderead. She attended Plymouth High School graduating with the class of 1960. On April 30, 1961 she married Deane Stump; he preceded her in death on June 28, 2018.
She was a dedicated bookkeeper and alongside her husband Deane, they established Stump Construction, a business that thrived for many years. Their time in Sebring, FL, added another chapter to their lives, where they enjoyed new experiences and opportunities together.
Returning to Plymouth, Mary and her twin sister, Martha, shared a love for antiques and owned M & M Antiques, fulfilling their passion for finding unique treasures. Mary's true happiness radiated when surrounded by her family, whether engaging in lively card games like Euchre, playful board games, or cheering on her favorite sports teams, the Yankees and Miami Dolphins.
In the heart of her home, Mary created enduring family traditions in the kitchen, leaving behind a legacy of delicious homemade treats like yeast rolls, pumpkin pie, blueberry pie, and peanut butter fudge.
She is survived by her daughter, Mindy (Jay) Potter of Sylvania, Ohio; son, Michael (Judy) Stump of Plymouth; and eight grandchildren: Amanda (Andrew) Dreibelbis, Sarah (Josh) Bowmar, Kyle (Jessica) Stump, Kelsey (Daren) Miller, Emily Bakian and fiance Tyler Heisey, Gentry (Brant) Hedington, Cassie (Hank) McLeod, and Jessica Potter; fourteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Martha (Richard) Day, Bruce (Lynn) Holderead, and Diana (Larry) Curtis; and sister-in-law, Billie Holderead.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Deane and brother Wayne Holderead; sister-in-law, Janice Holderead.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 10AM-12PM at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 12PM with Life Celebrant James Smart officiating.
Mary will be laid to rest with Deane at Fair Cemetery at a later date.
