Norma E. Hite, 102, from Plymouth

Norma E. Hite, 102, of Plymouth, IN, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024 in Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home of Plymouth, IN.

Norma was born on October 21, 1921 to James L. and Kathryn I. (Perry) Trowbridge in Inwood, IN. She was a lifelong resident of Indiana and graduated from Bourbon High School in 1939. She married Kenneth E. Winrotte in 1942 and he preceded her in death in 1960. She then married Raymond E. Hite on July 9, 1966 and he preceded her in death on August 30, 2012. She worked as a clerk at the Marshall County Treasurer’s Office. She was a member of the Pretty Lake United Methodist Church. She was a devoted mother who put her family first, she loved her family and all her stepfamily. She enjoyed music, loved playing the piano, violin, organ, accordion, and auto harp. She was a member of the Marshall County Church Orchestra for many years and loved making music for them. She was an avid knitter and knitted many pairs of mittens every year for the Boys and Girls Club.

Norma will be dearly missed by her children: Kathleen Sutton of Plymouth, IN; Melody and Bruce Hollett of Plymouth, IN; her stepchildren: Joyce Hite of Fort Wayne, IN; Jean Hite of Texas; Rick Hite Sr. of Plymouth, IN; Sherry Hite of California; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; her sister, Lou Dell Bollinger of FL.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Penny; 4 sisters: Lois Clabaugh; Junia Werst; Ruth Worsham; Phyllis Huff; 4 brothers: Paul Trowbridge; Perry Trowbridge; Welcome Trowbridge; Judah Trowbridge; and her stepsons: Fred Hite and Carl Hite.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Van Gilder Funeral Home (300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN 46563).

A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. in New Oak Hill Cemetery (Plymouth, IN) with Pastor Kristin Harp officiating.

The burial will take place in New Oak Hill Cemetery (Plymouth, IN).

The family would like to express thanks to the Pilgrim Manor staff for their care of and concern for Norma.
