Phyllis I. Rader, 98, of Plymouth, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 in Autumn Trace of Plymouth, IN.
Phyllis was born to Estel and Gertha (Bailey) Ray on December 23, 1926 in Lizton, IN. She has been a resident of Plymouth since 2007. She married Walter E. Rader, Jr. on April 29, 1950 and he preceded her in death on March 11, 2014. She worked in the office for the Indianapolis Star and in administration for National Screen of Indianapolis where she booked movies and ordered films for movie houses. After her retirement she enjoyed being a homemaker and cooking for her family. She volunteered for 27 years at Hendrick’s County Hospital in the X-ray department. She collected small items to sit on her shelves and she liked to purchase hats and shoes. She loved to talk, and she loved people.
Phyllis will be dearly missed by her son, Rodger (Georgette) Rader of Plymouth, IN; her grandchildren: Nicholas Rader and Sara Stevens: and her 6 great-grandchildren.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Estel and Gertha Ray; her husband, Walter Rader, Jr.; her grandson, Benjamin Rader; and her siblings: Eveleen Morrison; Charlene Alexander; and Donald Ray.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Van Gilder Funeral Home (300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN 46563).
A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Officiant Mary Ann La Plante presiding.
