Phyllis (Noelting) Burris, formerly of Plymouth

Phyllis (Noelting) Burris, formerly of Plymouth, passed peacefully on the evening of Tuesday,

January 28, 2025 at Westminster Village North in Indianapolis, IN. She was born to Walter W. and Leonora (Burnett) Noelting on September 11, 1927 in Evansville, IN. 

Phyllis grew up in Evansville.  She graduated from Pine Manor College in Boston, MA and attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.  In the summer of 1948 Robert (Bob) B. Burris (deceased) and she were married.  Phyllis and Bob spent their early marriage raising their four daughters in Evansville before moving three times to different states and then finally landing back in Indiana in 1985.  She was an avid reader and poured that love into volunteering and working at the local libraries where they lived and finally retiring after 25 years from the Plymouth (IN) Public Library. Playing bridge was also a passion of hers. She joined bridge clubs in each of her locations.  Phyllis was very active in the Junior League of Evansville and participated as an Active and Associate member of the local Tri Kappa Sorority in Plymouth.

 

Phyllis is survived by her four daughters: Carolyn Christena, Cynthia (Cynci) Cutter, Celia (Mark) Godsil, and Claudia (Rick) Button; six grandchildren: Andrea Christena, Tim Christena, Debbie (Mike) Albert, Zach Godsil, Melissa Button and Emily (Jon) Buck; and seven great-grandchildren: Catherine Johnson, Andy Albert, Emily Albert, Milo Godsil, Lydia Godsil, Brody Robinson and Brayden Robinson.
