Richard H. Jacobs, age 88 of Plymouth, IN, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023 in Miller’s Merry Manor of Plymouth, IN.
Richard was born on March 27, 1935 to Harland Haywood and Florence A. (Tyler) Jacobs in Plymouth, IN. He was a lifelong resident of Plymouth, and wintered in Winter Haven, FL. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1953 and attended Inwood United Methodist Church. He married Sheila McIntyre, for which they were married for 57 years, and she preceded him in death. He worked as a cryogenics technician for Air Products of South Bend, IN for 34 years. He enjoyed camping for over 40 years and was a member of the Marshall County Pathfinders camping group.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Marianne (Mike) DePoy of Knox, IN; his sons: Richard “Rick” Jacobs II of Newark, Delaware; Michael W. Jacobs of Murfreesboro, TN; his grandchildren: Travis (Richard III); Jared; Noah; Hannah; Sarah; Isaiah; Joshua; Michael, Jr.; Mathew; Makayla; and Morgan; his 16 great-grandchildren; his brother, Arthur Jacobs of Plymouth, IN; and his companion, Cindy Wennerstrom of Plymouth, IN.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sheila; his son, Timothy Jacobs; his sisters, Luella Nicodemus; Jean Thompson; his brothers: Robert Jacobs; Clarence Jacobs; and John Jacobs.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at New Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel (1300 Chester St., Plymouth, IN 46563). The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Justin Chamber of New Song Church presiding.
Burial will be in New Oak Hill Cemetery (Plymouth, IN).
Memorial donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice (1476 W 18th St, Rochester, IN 46975) or to the donor’s choice in Richard’s name.
