Sarah J. Nifong, 82, Plymouth, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Miller’s Merry Manor Assisted Living. She was born in Salt Lake, Utah on July 25, 1942 to Carlos and Katherine (Valdez) Chavez. She attended Bingham High School and graduated with the class of 1966. Sarah married Robert ‘Larry’ Nifong on May 4, 1980, at the Church of the Brethren in Plymouth.
Sarah was known for her tremendous work ethic, working 43 years for Bomarko as an Export Manager before retiring in 2017. Sarah embodied a relentless grace–her heart full of love for so many people. No matter what she did, she strove for excellence and nothing went undone.
But no area of her life was this more true than with her family. The selflessness, diligence, and unrelenting love she poured into being a mother and grandmother was unsurpassed. Sarah did whatever it took to make sure she never missed any event that her children or grandchildren were a part of. She didn't just tell you she loved you but showed it in her own little ways.
Sarah loved cooking for her loved ones and had a collection of cookbooks to prove it. Her family cherished her homemade tortillas, and her lemon squares will be missed by all.
She is survived by her husband Robert ‘Larry’ of Plymouth; children: John (Nadine) Oliver of Plymouth; Susan (Scott) Martello of Indianapolis, IN; Timothy (Darci) Nifong of Plymouth; Angela (Luke) Pearish of Plymouth; DeWayne (Jennifer) Nifong of Plymouth and Kelly (Brad) Lips of Plymouth; 15 grandchildren; siblings: Roger Chavez of Henderson, NV; Raul (Luanne) Chavez of Nebraska, Rebecca (Martin) Houck of Salt Lake City, UT; Lydia Chavez, sister-in-law of Salt Lake City, UT; and her first husband John J. Oliver of Plymouth. Sarah is preceded in death by her parents and brother David Chavez.
