Shearin "Sheri" Dale (Polk) Poor, 70, of Plymouth, IN, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 in her home.
Sheri was born on October 22, 1953 in Franklin, Indiana to James A. Polk and Dorothy (Forleades) Carpenter. When Sheri was 7 years old, the family moved to Wabash. She graduated from Northfield High School in 1971 and attended Huntington College for a year. Years later, she earned an associate degree in business management from Indiana University’s regional campus in South Bend. On February 23, 1990, she married James Poor. He passed away on November 25, 2019. Sheri worked on the production line at United Technologies, later Lear Corporation, in Wabash and North Manchester. She then transferred to an office position with the company in Plymouth, retiring in 2016.
Sheri had a passion for singing. She often led music worship and performed solos or sang with groups while attending the LaPaz Church of God. After the church closed, she spent weekends with her mother in LaFontaine and attended the Wabash First Church of God, where she continued to sing and occasionally lead music worship. Sheri loved the Lord, her family, and people. She also had a deep affection for animals, always having a dog and one or two cats.
She is survived by her children: Denver (Eve) Cavins; Michael (Heather) Cavins; Deanna (Rick) Fox; James (Melanie) Poor; Victoria (Alex) Rosas; Correnia (Mike) Reeves; and Angela (Phil Cullers) Poor; seventeen grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren, with another on the way. She is also survived by her mother, Dorothy Carpenter; brother, Thomas (Kimberly) Polk; nephew, Stephan (Kyra) Polk; and one great niece.
She was preceded in death by her father, James A. Polk; her stepfather, Dalton Carpenter; her brother, James F. Polk; and a grandson, Daniel Osborn.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Wabash First Church of God, (595 S Huntington Street, Wabash, IN 46992) on Sunday, September 8, 2024, starting at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather and fellowship following the service.
Memorials donations may be made to the Wabash First Church of God (595 S Huntington Street, Wabash, IN 46992), to the family for help with the funeral expenses, or the charity of your choice.
