Shirley Anne Bosell Williams, 93, of Winona Lake, IN, went to her Savior on Monday, December 11, 2023 in Winona Lake, IN.
Shirley was born on April 4, 1930 in Salem, OR to Hjalmer and Freda Bosell. She married Lyle Williams on September 2, 1951 and he preceded her in death. Shirley had a gift of music, appreciation of nature, a wonderful sense of humor, a servant’s heart, and enriched the lives of everyone around her. Shirley and Lyle’s home was always open and their genuine interest in people meant no one was a stranger for long.
Shirley and Lyle worked for the Free Methodist Church Headquarters for many years, and they were members of the Winona Lake Free Methodist Church. Shirley also worked for Othy Orthopedics. After retirement, she continued singing and playing piano. She volunteered in the library and for chapel preparation. She found later enjoyment in the art program at Grace Village Retirement Community.
Her life has been a gift and ministry to her family, friends, and community. When a reunion in heaven was discussed, she said, “But first, Jesus.” This was how she lived her life – First, Jesus.
Shirley is survived by her children: Dale Williams of Punta Gorda, FL; Karen (David) Overmyer of Winona Lake, IN; Diane (Rick) Dobbins of Santa Clara, CA; her grandchildren: Jessi (Andrew) McIntyre; Jami Williams; Kristin (Adam) Harp; Kyle (Dianna) Overmyer; Kelly (Isaac) Harp; Laura (Joseph) Cobb; Eric (Nicole) Dobbins; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Williams; her parents, Hjalmer and Freda Bosell; and her brother, David Bosell.
The family will plan a memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley’s name to the Grace Village ARTCare Program (337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, IN 46590) or to Winona Lake Community Church (902 College Ave., Winona Lake, IN 46590).
