Vida Sue Creed, 80, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth. Born on December 15, 1943 in Elkhorn City, KY, Vida was the daughter of Everett and Tilda (Blair) Stiltner.
She graduated from Elkhorn City High School, where she was crowned Homecoming Queen of 1963. Vida was a dedicated entrepreneur who owned Merle Norman Cosmetics for 35 years, leaving a legacy of hard work and dedication in the cosmetics industry. During that time, she was also a bookkeeper at Creed Seeding and was the founder of Daphne’s Dolls. She also served as the president of the Marshall County Alcohol Board for 20 years.
Vida married Donald Creed on March 17, 1980, and their union was one of love and companionship, lasting for 30 years until Donald's passing in 2020. While Vida separated from her first Husband, Jack Stapleton, they remained lifelong friends and he preceded her in death in 2021. Don and Jack created a bond that was admired by their friends and family.
A master of wit and storytelling, Vida was known for her quick humor and infectious laughter. She had a knack for livening up any gathering with her jokes and tales. She was a person who saw the good in everyone and always had a kind word to share.
Vida found joy in family gatherings, particularly in organizing their annual family reunions. She held a special place in her heart for her family and cherished the moments spent together, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever. She was also a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church before her health no longer allowed.
Vida will be missed by her children, Daphne Stapleton and David Stapleton; grandchildren, Jillian Smith (Skyler Holland) and Ricky Elm (Brittney Coley); and great-grandchildren, Don Fox Elm, Stevie Jane Holland, Vayda Holland, and Ryan, Karsyn, and Kennady Coley.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Tilda; husbands, Donald and Jack; son-in-law, Pedro Vasquez; and siblings, Edgar, Manthalee, Ora Marie, Mary Lois, Mona Christine, Vadna Lovella, Gloria Dean, Villa Jean, Evelyn Faye, Doreen, Kelver, Jimmy Carmel, Jerry, and Billy Joe.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 from 4-6PM at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 11AM with Life Celebrant James Smart officiating. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the start of the service.
Burial will take place at New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
