Yvonne W. Burleson, 88, of Argos

Yvonne W. Burleson, 88, of Argos passed away with her loving family by her side on May 26, 2024 in Yellville, AR.

She was born in Steele, MO on November 24, 1935 to Henry and Bessie (Mullins) Cunningham.

Yvonne married the love of her life, Ronnie W. Burleson, on March 6, 1955 in Nahunta, GA. They relocated to Indiana in 1960 and raised three children, Terry, Kennie, and Teresa. While being a mother was Yvonne’s most cherished role, they owned 7 different businesses throughout the years so she was a true “go-getter” businesswoman at heart. The invaluable lesson of working hard to get what you want is one that her children carry on today.

When Yvonne had time for herself, you could often find her in the garden or with a book in her hand. She was an avid reader who looked forward to what the next page held with each book she read. Yvonne also loved building doll houses with Ronnie, a hobby that they later turned into a business. Anytime spent together with family was precious, especially when it was spent camping, attending Quentin Flagg shows, or traveling. Yvonne took many trips exploring the United States and her last adventure was to the Caribbean.

Yvonne was strong in her faith; she was a longtime member of New Song Church in Plymouth.

Yvonne will be deeply missed by her children, Terry (Mary) Burleson, Kennie (Pam) Burleson, and Teresa (Scott) Olds; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great grandchildren; along with two surviving siblings, Rodney Cunningham and Elizabeth Pickard.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie; parents, Henry and Bessie; and siblings, Dorothy Goza, Raymond Cunningham, Roy Cunningham, Sharon Braden, Mary Evelyn Stout, Joyce Mattich and infant brother, James.

Yvonne will be laid to rest in New Oak Hill Cemetery during a private graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions in memory of Yvonne to the Argos Public Library, 142 N. Michigan Street, Argos, IN 46501.
