It was a match that took more than awhile to play.
Tynley Gantz and Izzie Wray won their singles matches in straight sets to put the Pilgrims up 2-0. The #1 doubles team of Emma Jackson-Cassidy Riddle took the first set, but ultimately fell in three sets.
At this point, the match was three hours in length. Plymouth's #2 doubles team, Lena Houin and Alivia Kizer, battled in a close third set while #1 singles player Annie Plothow was involved in a split sets match. Houin and Kizer pulled out their final set 6-4 to secure the third team point, with Plothow still playing in her third set. After nearly four hours of play, Plothow pulled out the final three games to take her third set 7-5 and finish off the win, 4-1.
“Very proud of the girls tonight. We talked about learning from the match on Saturday and I felt like we made some nice strides forward tonight.
We dealt with adversity on several courts and responded well overall to those tough moments. It’s hard to replicate pressure situations, and I thought we competed better through those as well. Our doubles are starting to play more aggressive, which is also a positive," said head coach Brad Haeck.
