Plymouth wrestler Angel Smith finished 3-1 Friday in the Indiana High School Girls Wrestling State Finals in Kokomo and placed fifth overall at 125 pounds.
Smith, a freshman, scored a quick pinfall victory in her opening-round match against Mooresville’s Mattingly Hutchinson then was defeated in the Round of 8 by Warren Central’s Aminah Rusunuguko-Taylor to drop into the consolation bracket.
Smith scored a 5-2 win over North Posey’s Adelyn Gamblin to advance to the fifth-place match where she defeated East Noble’s Natalie Spidel, 3-1.
