Triton Central's May, Waldron's Bennett earn All-State baseball honor

Waldron pitcher Jacob Bennett and Triton Central pitcher Hayden May have earned All-State designations for their performances this season.

Prep Baseball Indiana named May All-State in Class 2A along with 14 other players. May (photo) finished 10-1 on the mound for the Tigers with a 2.11 earned run average. In 53 innings pitched, he allowed 29 hits while striking out 92.

At the plate, May hit .494 with 33 runs scored and 31 runs batted in.

He helped the Tigers to a 24-4 record this season.

Bennett was honored as All-State in Class A by Prep Baseball Indiana. He went 7-2 on the mound for the Mohawks with a 1.09 ERA. In 64.1 innings pitched, he allowed 33 hits and struck out 123.

At the plate, Bennett hit .438 with 24 runs scored and 16 RBI for Waldron, who finished 16-9.

Bennett also was one of 10 players named Class A All-State by the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association (IHSBCA).

The state coaches association compiled ballots through nominations submitted by member head coaches. Final votes were determined by voting of the IHSBCA membership.

May was selected Honorable Mention All-State in Class 2A by the state coaches association.

Triton Central’s Ben Toth was named Academic All-State by the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association.
