Parke Heritage High School Celebrates Athletes with Fall Sports Awards

Parke Heritage High School celebrated its fall sports achievements with an honors night on Wednesday, November 6, recognizing athletes’ accomplishments and contributions across multiple sports. Athletic Director Rich Schelsky opened the event by acknowledging those who supported the fall season, from staff to volunteers. In a heartfelt moment, Schelsky presented custodian Tim Gilman with a football signed by the team as a thank-you for his work in preparing the field for each game.

Each team then held its own awards ceremony in various locations, beginning with volleyball. Coaches Sondra Clendenin and Melanie Miller recognized players including Emma Simpson, who received awards for Most Kills, Digs, and Blocks. Hallie Miller took home the Leadership Award and honors for Most Assists, Aces, and Service Points, while Birkley Schelsky received the Mental Attitude Award, and Carly Newnum earned the Coaches’ Award. Miller, Simpson, and Schelsky were named to the All-Conference team, with Miller also reaching personal milestones of 1,000 assists and 100 aces.

In girls golf, standout Taya Sturmer was honored for advancing to the regional tournament and earned All-Conference recognition. Sturmer also received Team Medalist and “Queen of the Green” Putting awards. Other winners included Aubree Kieft, who received the Most Improved Award, and Lexi Mundell, who was named “Diamond in the Rough” as a future talent. During the season, Sturmer set school records for Individual Nine Hole Score and Individual Putts per Hole Average, with the team setting a record for Team Putts per Hole Average under the guidance of coach Corey Ransom.

Cross-country athletes Brooke Mace, Kamden Shields, and David Lacy were celebrated for qualifying for regionals and earning All-Conference honors. Mace and Shields were named Most Valuable Runners for girls and boys, respectively. Lacy received the Wolfpack Leader Award, and Clayton Kremer earned the Coach’s Award. Brianne Bridge coached the team.

For football, Carson Rolison earned All-Conference honors. AJ Montgomery was recognized with the Wolf Pride/Heart/Courage Award, and other awards went to Carson Rolison and Jerrid Graves (Offensive Back), Tucker Conley (Linebacker), Skyler Valle (Offensive Line), Karter Dice (Defensive Line), and Keaton Ramey (Defensive Back). Dan Rector and Shane Vandivier coached the team.

The boys tennis team celebrated an exceptional season, winning the Sectional Championship, Conference Championship, and the Frankfort Invitational. Each member of the 10-player team received an award, including Lewie Woody, Carson McCalister, Joel Miller, Leon Goessi, Jayce Crosley, Warren Ayres, Luke Gordon, Nate Woodard, Jackson Jenkins, and Parker Hopkins. Coach Mike Slater led the team.
