\n\nROCKVILLE-Carol Ann (Jocus) Brown, 79, of Raccoon Lake passed away Monday, November 20, 2023, at Life’s Journey Hospice in Indianapolis. She was born June 12, 1944, in Honolulu, Hawaii , then a territory of the USA, daughter of Edward T. and Ann V. (Evans) Jocus.\n\nShe was a 1962 graduate of Emerson High School in Gary, attended St. Bridget Catholic grade school in Hobart. Her husband of 40 years, Wayne Wallace Brown whom she married March 19, 1977, in New Chicago, Indiana, passed away May 22, 2017. They resided in Sauk Village, Illinois until moving to Raccoon Lake in 1998.\n\nCarol was an art major, studied at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, and Wood Carvers School in South Holland, Illinois. She sold many of her art through the years. She was a Nurse’s Aide, Girl Scout Leader, Cashier, Deli Manager, and a School Bus Driver for 31 years. She began with Kickert School Bus Corporation in 1987 in Lynwood, Illinois, retiring from North Putnam School Corporation in 2009. Later she was a driver for North Central Parke Community School Corporation in recent years. Carol enjoyed gardening and boating on Raccoon Lake, spending time with her grandchildren floating on rafts. Carol was known as the family historian.\n\nSurvivors include daughters, Elizabeth B. Pratt of Manteno, Illinois and Valerie A. Wolfe of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Eric, Elena Carol Harrison, Ryan, Alexander, Andrew Reed, Jonathan(Taylor) and Jessica Pratt; one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn L. Nussbaum; sister, Michelle Ann (Thomas) Davis of Asheville, North Carolina; brother, Edward Jocus of Hobart; eight nieces and one nephew; lifelong friend, Joyce R. Keilman of Hammond.\n\nCarol was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Valerie A. Sanders, Julie Ann Bates, brother, T.
