\n\nMARSHALL-Cecil Duane South, 77, of Marshall, Indiana passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in his residence.\n\nHe was a retired electrician with the Inland Container Corporation in Newport. He was also employed by Anaconda in Terre Haute.\n\nHe was born September 19, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Cecil Melford South and Mary Houk South.\n\nSurvivors include his wife of 57 years, Nancy Louise Chaney South whom he married July 2, 1966, in Rosedale; also surviving, one son, Shay (Amy) South of Marshall; one daughter, Debbie (James) Guinn of Clinton; two sisters-in-law, Rachel Pennsinger of Wingate and Colleen South of Veedersburg; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.\n\nHe was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Duane South in 1989 and two brothers, David Leroy South and Larry Pennsinger.\n\nHe was a 1964 graduate of Staunton High School. He was an electrician and radar technician with the U.S. Air-Force during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Bassmasters.\n\nServices will be 2:00 pm Monday, October 23, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with Pastor Jake Guinn officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville.
