\n\nJames A. Fischer, 93, of Rockville, passed away on November 7, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by family. Born, March 2, 1930, in Plainfield, Indiana, he was the son of Fred C. and Belle James Fischer. James married Dorothy E. Honea on November 23, 1957, in Alamo, Indiana. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2015.\n\nJames graduated from Alamo High School in 1949. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a heavy equipment operator. James was a lifetime member of Paul Taylor VFW Post #1752 and attended the Otterbein United Methodist Church.\n\nHe retired from the Town of Rockville in 1991. He worked full time and farmed. After retiring he painted houses and barns in the Alamo area. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.\n\nJames is survived by 2 sons, Keith Fischer (Diane) of Rockville, Henry Fischer of Marshall; 4 daughters, Laura Fischer of Rockville, Ruth Fischer of Rockville, Freda (Kirk) Overmyer of Bloomingdale, and Rita Fischer (John Eldridge) of Center Point; 8 grandchildren, Andrea Tislow (Charlie) of Rockville, Alan Doan (Christine) of Rosedale, Brian Doan (Laura) of Waynetown, April Mason of Marshall, Robin Tuberosa of South Carolina, Cree Overmyer of Bloomingdale, and JW Overmyer of Bloomingdale.\n\nAlso surviving are 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; sister, Martha Griggs of Crawfordsville; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Fischer of Alamo, and Carolyn Fischer of Crawfordsville; and several nieces and nephews.\n\nHe is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; 3 brothers, Paul, John, and Dale Fischer; sister, Alice Fischer, and sister-in-law, Pat Fischer.\n\nFamily has requested no funeral services.
