\n\nJames Robert “Spud” Evans, 76, of Rockville passed away December 16, 2023, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. Born January 8, 1947, in Clinton, the son of Linus “Spud” and Juanita “Katie” Milam Evans.\n\nJames graduated from Rosedale High School in 1966. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army and 18 years in the Army National Guard both with the Rockville and Brazil units. He was a member of Rockville American Legion Post #48.\n\nHe worked several years for the Parke County Highway Department and a short time for Rahn Construction. He also worked at Lee’s Grocery in Rockville. James enjoyed fishing with Tommy Truax.\n\nSurvivors include a son, Joseph Evans of Rockville; a daughter Madeline Evans of Lodi; and 2 granddaughters, Kerstyn Edington of Tangier, and Crystal Cardwell of Lodi. Also surviving are a brother, Harold “Harry” Evans of Mecca; 2 sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Coleman of Greene Township, and S. Jane Seay of Rockville; several nieces, and nephews.\n\nJames was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Joseph “Sonny” Evans.\n\nFuneral services will be held on Thursday December 21, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at Barnes and Rice Funeral Home, 111 E. High Street, Rockville. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 6:00 p.m.\n\nInurnment will be at Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville at a later date.\n\n\n \n\nTo send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of James R. , please visit our floral store.\n
