\n\nJanet N. Baldwin, 94 years of age, of Montezuma, Indiana passed away peacefully on July 3, 2023, in the presence of family. Janet was born September 26, 1928, in Parke County, Indiana to Charles Brinton and Thelma May (nee McDowell) Lewman. She was a 1946 graduate of Mecca High School, Mecca, Indiana and attended Indiana State University.\n\nJanet was a wonderful mother and homemaker who also enjoyed working as a substitute teacher in Parke and Vermillion County Schools. After working in the Parke County Clerk’s office, she was employed as a teller for Rockville National Bank until her retirement in 2006.\n\nJanet loved spending time with her family and dogs, and admiring the beautiful view of “Hulman Hill” from her picture windows. She experienced many Wabash River floods and became adept at navigating flood waters in a jon boat.\n\nJanet was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, and two great grandchildren. She is survived by her five children, Candiss Perrill (Randy) of South Carolina, Kathy Auten (John, deceased) of Indiana, John Baldwin (Billie) of Indiana, Mark Baldwin (Patricia) of Indiana, and Chan Baldwin (Pam) of Illinois, 13 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren.\n\nThe Baldwin family would like to express sincere gratitude to the many dedicated caretakers and the staff at The Waters of Greencastle, Indiana who lovingly helped and supported our mother and grandmother these past few years.\n\nMemorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2023, at Gooch Funeral Home,112 W Howard Street, Rockville, Indiana 47872 with Pastor James Baldwin officiating. Visitation will be 11:00 am-1:00 pm Friday at Gooch Funeral Home.
