Karin L. Woodson, 81, of Rockville, Indiana passed away at her home on Monday, January 15, 2024. Karin was born on July 14, 1942, in Hammond, Indiana, to the late Francis Shoemaker and Joyce Snow Shoemaker.
Karin dedicated much of her life to serving her community and pursuing her passions. She was the curator of the Parke County Museum, where her love for history and culture shone through. Her commitment extended to Mardell’s Junior and Misses Apparel in Rockville, where she worked for many years, and the Rockville Correctional Facility, from which she retired.
She is survived by one son, Robert Courtland (Kimberly) Light of Phoenix, Arizona and one daughter, Laura (Jim) Light Campbell of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; two grandsons, Robert L.T. Brock and Christopher L.R. Brock. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Andrew Light.
Karin was a pillar of her community, actively participating in the First United Methodist Church of Rockville, serving as Executive Board Member of the Covered Bridge Art Association and Vice President of the Parke County Historical Society. She was also a member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution Estabrook Chapter and Friends of the Library. Karin’s interests were diverse, from her love for literature as an avid reader to her talents in oil painting and restoration.
A memorial visitation to celebrate Karin’s life will be from 10:00 am-12 noon Thursday, February 8, 2024, Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, Indiana 47872
