\n\nMONTEZUMA- Larry Ray Capps, Sr., 65 of Montezuma passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was a skilled heavy equipment operator. He was born September 8, 1958 in Clinton, Indiana to the late Billy Joe Capps, Sr. and Virginia Priest Capps.\n\nHe is survived by two sons, Kent (Christie) Capps of Fairland and Larry (Kylie) Capps, Jr. of Carbon; two daughters, Cherida (Aaron) Pallas of Indianapolis and Elizabeth (Hunter)Allee of Rockville; three step- daughters, Shirley Fellows of Mecca, Patty Sanders of Mecca and Ashley Morman of Montezuma; one brother, Billy (Janice) Capps of Steelville, Missouri and three sisters, Betty Hutson of St. Bernice, Judy (Bob) Fellows of Mecca and Rose (Duane) Watson of Montezuma; 14 grandchildren, Braylynn, Kowen, Kreed, Tennessee, Bradley, Cora, Rhett, Jaydyn, Janssen, Zoe, Brayden, Dayjah, Brycin and Josie; several nieces and nephews.\n\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Tessa Niccole Shelton, and brother-in-law, Phil Hutson.\n\nHe was a member of the Montezuma Fish and Game Club. He had a knack for fixing small engines and lawnmowers. He had a real love for mushroom hunting, always managing to find a good haul. He even said he was able smell them while out hunting. He enjoyed fishing and going to spot shoots. He took great pride in mowing and maintaining the beauty of the cemetery lawn and had a strong passion for playing music and singing, particularly as a member in the Road Ramblers Band.\n\nA private graveside service will held at Hixon Cemetery in Mecca with Pastor Keith B.
