Thomas Joe Zimmerman, 86, of Rockville

Thomas Joe Zimmerman, 86, of Rockville, passed away at his residence on Sunday, March 9, 2025.

He was a retired driver for UPS with 27 years of dedicated service. He was born on June 19, 1939, in Ladoga, Indiana, to the late Owen and Beulah (Haase) Zimmerman.

On November 4, 1961, he married the love of his life, Mary Brockmeier Zimmerman, in Ladoga. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughter, Lisa Myers of Rockville; his sons, Thomas (Cathy) Zimmerman, II of Ladoga, Eric(Lindi) Zimmerman of Crawfordsville, and Tim Hensley of Cincinnati, Ohio; his sister, Del (John) Torrison of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren, Michelle Myers, Melissa (Corey) Gillogly, Molly Myers, Maya Cook, Tanner Zimmerman, Ruby Zimmerman, Madison (Trevor) Halsey, Taylor Inman, Caitlynn Zimmerman, Karli Nelson, and Briar Connelly; 13 great-grandchildren, Avery, Emma, Zoey, Mackenzie, Ashlyn, Candice, Kayde, Karder, Easton, Ryleigh, Lylah, Izra, Eva and another expected soon; and countless extended family and friends who will deeply miss him.

Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1962. He was a graduate of Ladoga High School, an active member of the First Baptist Church in Rockville and the American Legion Fellenzer Post 48.

Thomas lived a life of service and community, giving 17 years to the Ladoga Volunteer Fire Department. He loved playing golf, fishing, and softball and was a passionate supporter of his children and grandchildren’s athletic pursuits. He was an avid basketball player, with few ever managing to beat him in a game of HORSE. A devoted fan of Indiana University athletics, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved IU Hoosiers.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Ladoga Cemetery. Pastor Tami Mussche will officiate, and military honors will be provided by the Parke County Veterans.

 Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Gooch Funeral Home in Rockville.
