NHL Playoffs: Winnipeg Jets defeat Avalanche; Canucks beat Predators in Game 1 matchups

The Winnipeg Jets defeated the Colorado Avalanche in the opening game of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 7-6 victory – marking their first playoff win in two years.

Adam Lowry and Kyle Connor scored twice for the Jets; while Avalanche goalie Alexandar Georgiev gave up four goals on the first 10 shots of the game in another disappointing performance. Game 2 will be held Tuesday night in Winnipeg at 8:30 p.m.

The Vancouver Canucks came back in the third-period to take Game 1 of their best-of-seven series against the Nashville Predators with a score of 4-2 at Rogers Arena on Sunday night, marking Vancouver’s firstst NHL playoff win since 2020.

The Canucks Dakota Joshua had two goals and an assist, while Elias Lindholm also scored and Thatcher Demko stopped 20 shots for Vancouver to secure the victory.

Game 2 between the Canucks and Predators will be held Tuesday night in Vancouver.
