The Putnam County Annual Children’s Theatre Workshop is back, and it promises to be a night of excitement and creativity as the young talents take the stage on Saturday, July 29, at 7 p.m. The Hazel Day Longden Theatre will host this eagerly awaited event, and the best part is that it's open to the public with free admission for all!
Heading this remarkable endeavor is Director Caroline Good, who has assembled a dedicated team of volunteers to make this show possible. The volunteers have been hard at work for an entire week, preparing to showcase the artistic brilliance of the young participants. Alongside Caroline Good and Kathi Elliott, who provide instruction in acting, the team includes Sarah Armitage for dance/movement, and Eleanor Howard for voice and diction. Additional instructors Ruby Sullivan and Alice Howard also contribute their expertise to nurture these budding talents.
The coordination of their efforts is further enhanced by the work of the proud alumni of the program; Rebecca Hebb, Catherine Ryan-Shager, MJ Cooper, Ella Tischer, Josie Tischer, Gabby Robbins, Charlotte Tomamichel, and Savannah Wolfe, who play pivotal roles in ensuring the success of the event.
Audiences attending the event will enjoy the World Premieres of two original plays, crafted by the resident playwrights of the program. The first play is titled "And the Winner Is…" by Ruby Sullivan, and the second one is "The Almost Heist" by Ellen Blackledge and Joslyn Cash.
In "And the Winner Is…," the spotlight falls on Tinzlee Coulson, Ben Wolfe, Maryn Huber, Hollis Barcus, and Hadley Roderick. The play takes a satirical look at children’s beauty pageants and also features the talents of Henry Wolfe, Cece Wells, Cheyanne Johnson, and Nancy Napier. Completing the ensemble are Zoey Bond, Nora Napier, Levi Watkins, and Delilah Plot, all of whom add their flair to the performance.
On the other hand, "The Almost Heist" by Ellen Blackledge and Joslyn Cash brings forth the acting prowess of Hannah Jernagan, Elijah Neeley, Gloria Jones, Tatum Wilson, Millie Jones, and Keyli Hamblet. Wyatt Schutter, Caydee Johnson, Greene Henry, Quinn Dory, and Lauren Wells also deliver outstanding performances in this gripping play. The cast is rounded out by Liza Tischer, Jeriden Vaughn, and Alton Henry, who add their unique touch to the production.
In a gesture of gratitude and appreciation, Putnam County Playhouse extends heartfelt thanks to the families of all the participants who have actively supported and encouraged their children to take part in these enriching youth programs.
The annual Children's Theatre Workshop is not just a showcase of talent but a testament to the power of community support and the spirit of creativity. It provides a nurturing platform for young minds to explore their artistic abilities and gain confidence in their skills. The dedication and passion of the volunteers and instructors play a vital role in making this event a resounding success year after year.
