Cloverdale council president looks for big year

According to Tancak, "2024 was a great year for the town and we completed a lot of big projects."

Brandon Tancak doesn't need any reminders of how great 2024 was.

The Cloverdale Town Council president sees how great it was in the projects that have been wrapped up around his town. 

According to Tancak, "2024 was a great year for the town and we completed a lot of big projects."

While the town was able to get a lot of projects done, it also remains financially strong to take on anything that may come in the future. 

"We are in great financial shape to take on several more big projects in the next couple of years. We have a lot of items in the works as we continue to improve streets and utilities within town limits. The projects we are working on I hope to see come to fruition late 2025 into 2026," he said.

One thing Tancak admits he would like to see happen is a business to come on Bennington Way. 

"Once that one happens the rest will fall into place in that area" Tancak said. 

Another area Tancak hopes to see improvement in is housing in Cloverdale.

"Housing still continues to be a problem even though there are a lot of new single story family homes and duplexes being built. Hopefully 2025 will bring lower interest rates for future developers," Tancak said. 

What's next for Cloverdale?

Tancak said as city council saw projects wrap up in 2024, the question quickly became what's next.

"As we wrapped up those big projects last year we had to take a step back and find out what was needed to be done next," he said.

Monon Avenue was at the top of the list, as Tancak calls the street a "mess."

"We are currently working with United and their engineers to come up with a budget and plan on going after grant money to help with the cost of this project," he said.

In addition, Tancak said the town recently met with CSX in regards to the old railway that impacts town. 

"We also had a meeting a couple weeks ago with CSX as the old railway affects that project and we also talked about the entire rail that ran through town at one point. I hope to have a report from them before spring and I hope that they work with us and see our vision for the future of Cloverdale," Tancak said.

Finally, he said the town continues to look at its streets and sidewalks with a hope of reconstructing a few. 

 "That process won't likely start until sometime in the 1st quarter beginning with hiring an engineer. We are keeping our foot on the gas pedal as we continue to look for the responsible growth," Tancak said.
