Councilman looking forward to hearing from constituents with new lunch series

The lunch sessions will alternate between Wally's, 727 Main Street, and Pizza King, 400 Bloomington St., with the first slated for Aug. 8 at Wally's.

Wanting to meet residents where they are and hear their ideas, Greencastle City Councilman Vincent Aguirre unveiled a new series of City Council Office Hours sessions recently.

Aguirre, who represents the Fourth Ward, is looking forward to meeting with residents over a meal to get their thoughts, concerns and ideas when it comes to Greencastle.

Aguirre said while he can't think of a single moment where the idea came to him, he has been influenced by public servants in other communities that have done similar things.

"I have seen events such as coffee with the councilman, pizza with a pastor and mingling with the mayor in other communities and thought it was something the people of Greencastle would appreciate. I believe it takes all of us to make Greencastle the best version of itself and this is another way to reach people in the community while also supporting our local fourth ward businesses," Aguirre told The Putnam County Post.

The lunch sessions will alternate between Wally's, 727 Main Street, and Pizza King, 400 Bloomington St., with the first slated for Aug. 8 at Wally's.

Other dates at Wally's are Oct. 17 and Dec. 19. Dates for Pizza King are: Sept. 19 and Nov. 21. The lunch sessions are from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and will feature a casual environment and open conversation. Each person attending is responsible for their own lunch.

"My goal is to connect with local residents on a more personal level and make sure they understand how approachable local government can and should be," Aguirre said.
