An event that used to be held in Putnam County is back on the docket tonight, as the Public Safety Open House will be held tonight at the Greencastle Fire Department, 107 S. Indiana St.

The festivities will last from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The event is coming back after a brief hiatus due to COVID, according to Greencastle Fire Chief Rob Frank.

"This has been a long standing event at the fire house. We used to put on the event and let people from the community come out to the fire house and see what we do. COVID put an end to it for a few years, but we are bringing it back this year and have invited other agencies to take part," Frank told The Putnam County Post.

Other agencies involved will be the Greencastle Police Department, Putnam County EMS, Putnam County Hospital, Putnam County E911, Putnam County CERT, and the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

"This is an opportunity to learn what all the agencies do on a daily basis. We are pulling in other agencies to highlight what they do. We will have the smoke house, a bounce house and free food served by the mayor and other city staff. We are excited to try something new, bring these organizations in to highlight themselves and continue it into the future," Frank said.
