Luetna Kathryn “Tyke” Rice, 95, of Crawfordsville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at Whitlock Place in Crawfordsville.
Luetna was born Sept. 4, 1929, the daughter of Ralph and Janette (Ritenhour) McMahan. She was born on her mother’s 27th birthday near Yountsville.
Luetna graduated from New Market High School with the Class of 1947. Luetna better known as “Tyke” married Arthur Rice on Aug. 30, 1947. She and Arthur were members of the Crawfordsville First Baptist Church. Sadly, he preceded her in death July 11, 2020. Luetna and Arthur had farmed in the area for many years.
Arthur and Tyke had four daughters and one son.
Survivors include: Sharon Blaydes (Keith), Joyce Surface, Shirley Servies and Mark Rice; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur Rice; daughter and son-in-law Peggy Ray and Bill Ray; and son-in-law Robert Servies.
Services will be at noon Thursday, Dec. 12 at New Market First Baptist Church, 106 First St., New Market, with Pastor Mike Whitacre officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time also at the church. Burial will follow in Indian Creek Hill Cemetery near New Market. Machledt & Servies Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 301 E. Green St., Waveland, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
