Odette Marie Husband, 101, of Plymouth

Odette Marie Husband passed peacefully with family by her side on February 21, 2025 at the age of 101. She was born in Varages, France on December 27, 1923 to George and Madeline (Cousin) Foubert.

Odette was born and grew up in a small village at the foot of the Alps in southern France with her parents and five siblings. Odette married David Husband, whom she met during World War II while she was studying nursing in Marseille, France. Dave and Odette raised their family of ten children in Plymouth, IN. As if raising her family wasn't enough Odette has many more life accomplishments. She was a gifted seamstress, self-taught in the intricate art of reweaving. Earned her Master of Education and became a certified pilot. As her family grew and left home Odette had various jobs and volunteered with many organizations. She was the book keeper for her husband's busness Husband Exterminators, playfully referring to their venture as the “husband exterminators.” Odette was elected for a position on the Plymouth School Board for multiple terms and subsequently served on the Plymouth Parks Board

Yet, above all her accomplishments, Odette treasured family most dearly. The roles of mother and grandmother filled her heart with the greatest joy. It was in these moments, surrounded by her loved ones, that she truly flourished. Odette was always active, as her children grew she turned to nurturing her garden. Her efforts were reflected by the prolific collage of color in her yard three seasons of each year. She frequently shared the complements made by those who passed by. Well into her ninties many frequently saw her mowing the lawn or tending her blooms.

Another of Odette's enjoyments up until last year was her enthusiastic participation in the local improv “Moonitics” group at the local Wild Rose Moon. Besides all the laughter she was convinced it helped keep her mind sharp. Ooo la la. That and Sunday evening 60Minutes.

Odette is survived by her children, James (Susan) Husband, Kathleen Husband, Christine (Paul-d) Kline, Miriam Husband, Joyce Husband , and Danielle (Rod) Johnson, sister Monique; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and their families in France and the US.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David; parents, George and Madeline; children, John Husband, Dennis Husband, David Michael Husband, and Jack Husband; and siblings, Jeanette, Renee, Max, and Jean.
