Robert (Bob) Curtis Forsyth, 75, of Greencastle, Indiana, formerly Olney

Robert (Bob) Curtis Forsyth, 75, of Greencastle, Indiana, passed away on March 19, 2025 following a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Robert was born to Virginia (Schneiter) and Robert Bruce Forsyth in Olney, Illinois. He graduated from East Richland High School in 1967, where he played football for his Uncle, Coach Monte Forsyth.

He went on to a challenging career managing maintenance work at a chemical plant in Mississippi. He worked hard and played hard, pursuing many hobbies such as photography, golf, and fishing. He retired in 2001 following a series of health setbacks.

He settled in Greencastle where he enjoyed the slow pace of small-town living. He was known throughout town as a friendly, kind, and gentle man, someone who would eagerly help a stranger and would stop to chat with anyone in his path. Although life threw him numerous obstacles, he met each one with optimism and resourcefulness. He was fiercely independent, not wanting any of his burdens to be felt by others. He was positive until the end, reassuring his family that he would pull through.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Stephen Forsyth. He is survived by sisters Jody (Jerald) and Amy (Bob), and five beautiful nieces.

The family will gather for a private memorial service this summer.

“Dear Lord, I pray that I may fish until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast, I then most humbly pray: When in the Lord’s great landing net and peacefully asleep, That in His mercy I be judged Big Enough to Keep.”
