Cloverdale football is 3-1 and riding a three-game win streak.
A 3-1 record hasn’t happened for the Clovers program since 2010 and only three times altogether since 1996.
Even in a season opening shootout loss to Riverton Parke the Clovers scored 33 points and are now averaging 52 points per game. In the current win streak, Cloverdale outscored Edinburgh, Brown County and Southside Home School 175-6 including two shutouts.
But now the competition ramps up with a Western Indiana Conference game at county rival North Putnam (4-0).
The undefeated Cougars scored 57 last week in a win over Crawfordsville. The week before it was a dramatic one-point win at 1A sixth-ranked South Putnam. In Week 2, North Putnam defeated a Southmont team coming off a semi-state appearance in 2023.
Cloverdale head coach Tyler Lotz says North Putnam presents a great challenge.
North Putnam has won eight consecutive meetings in the series by an average score of 40-9 dating back to a late season game in 2017. Head coach Scott Moore says this could be a different Cloverdale squad.
